Merry Christmas to you all. So everybody is busy making cakes and muffins for the festival. I made doughnuts. It was my favourite since childhood but tried it again last week after a long time. Kids liked them and enjoyed, becos i made a little attraction by cutting the doughnuts in the middle and spreading the creamy mixture of icing sugar and butter. Really it was delicious ..:) .
Ingredients :
Self Raising Flour/ Maida – 2 cups
Sugar – 1/2 cup
Baking powder 1 tsp
Cinnamon powder – pinch
Baking powder -1/2 tsp
Salt – pinch
Egg – 1
Milk – 1/2 cup
Butter – 2 tbsp
Oil -to fry
Add salt and baking powder to the maida and sift it two times. Take it in a bowl and add cinnamon powder and butter. Mix well. Add Sugar, beaten egg and milk. Mix it to form a soft dough as for chapathi. If needed you can add little more flour. Cover it and leave for ten minutes. After ten minutes knead the dough and make into big lemon sized balls. Roll into 1/2 inch thick on floured board and cut with doughnut cutter or any two sized bottle lids. Fry them in hot oil till they are golden brown in color and drain on tissue paper. When cool store them in airtight box. You can dust the hot doughnuts with powdered sugar or dip it in thick chocolate syrup. I cut the doughnut into two and spread the icing sugar mixed in cream. This doughnut tastes different when served chilled.
